Sanju Vairav is a Sydney-based teacher, museum worker and emerging archaeologist committed to advancing equitable education, community engagement and public scholarship. She holds a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney, majoring in Ancient History, where she graduated first in both Greek and Roman Archaeology. Sanju is passionate about the Classics and educating young people to be global citizens. Alongside teaching, she has worked on major international exhibitions at the Australian Museum and archaeology fieldwork in Italy and Greece. She also volunteers with sustainability hubs and charities and has demonstrated leadership as a captain and president within the quidditch community, representing Australia internationally. With her Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, Sanju will pursue an MA in the Archaeology of the Mediterranean, Egypt and Middle East at University College London. She aspires to lead in the Australian arts and culture sector through exhibition development, curation, ethical museum practices, provenance research, repatriation initiatives and community engagement. Her work will foster informed public discussion of the ancient world and Western civilisation.
