Isabella Gullifer-Laurie is a researcher, writer and educator from rural NSW. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Arts (Research) in English from the University of Melbourne. Her Master’s thesis examined the journalism, criticism and fiction of American writers Joan Didion, Renata Adler and Elizabeth Hardwick. She has taught Australian literary history, presented her research at seminars and conferences, and has a strong interest in broadening public discussion of literary culture. Isabella regularly publishes essays and criticism with a focus on women’s artistic and writing practices. Her work has appeared in publications including the Sydney Review of Books, LA Review of Books, ArtReview, The Saturday Paper, The Monthly, The Guardian and Meanjin. With her Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, she will commence a PhD in English at King’s College London, researching women artists and life writing from 1900 to the present. After her studies, Isabella hopes to teach and research while continuing to write and publish.
