Dr Wai Chung Tse is an early-career clinician-scientist and critical care trainee from Melbourne. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine from Monash University, where he was awarded the Robert Mohr Humanitarian Award. His interests lie in critical care, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and global health resilience. He has led POCUS research and education across the Asia-Pacific, including Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and Pacific Island nations. His work at the Monash Addiction Research Centre and Burnet Institute has informed clinical guidelines for the World Health Organisation and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. With his Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, Wai Chung will pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering at Cambridge. His doctoral research will apply systems engineering to how critical care is delivered across the Indo-Pacific, addressing the structural gap in critical care infrastructure. Post-study, he plans to return to Australia and lead research on critical care systems in the region.
