Dr Nishank Motwani is Director of Research and Policy at ATR Consulting in Afghanistan. He holds a PhD in international and political studies from UNSW, where he examined protracted conflicts, as well as a Masters in Strategic Studies and Masters in Diplomacy from The Australian National University. Nishank is passionate about exploring the intersection of strategic competition and its domestic impact on democratic governance, including tackling misinformation and helping refugees find resettlement. With his World Universities Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, Nishank will study a Mid-Career Master in Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School, where he is an Edward S. Mason Fellow, and focus on democracy and governance, policy design and delivery, and international security. Nishank enjoys research and has published in online channels and peer-reviewed journals. His forthcoming book Players, Perceptions, and Power in Afghanistan’s Regional Conflict will be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2023. In the future Nishank hopes to work in politics and public policy.
