Daniel Quill is a scholar of political and economic thought from Brisbane. He holds a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (First Class Honours) from The University of Queensland (UQ), for which he received the University Medal. His thesis explored the history of monetary policy, and how it has shaped the contemporary European political landscape. He also served as Vice-President of the UQ Politics, Philosophy, and Economics Society, and reviewed for Exordium, UQ’s Student Philosophy e-Journal. A language enthusiast, he has studied German and Classical Greek. With his Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, Daniel will study an MPhil in International Relations at Oxford. His research focus will be the making of modern international society and the role of monetary sovereignty in shaping relationships between nation-states. His long-term career ambition is to work as an academic, examining how historical ideas inform present political challenges. Post-study, Daniel further hopes to communicate his learnings through the promotion of civic engagement and public dialogue in Australia and internationally.
