Bethany Conroy is a process engineer and machine learning researcher from Brisbane. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Process Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology, graduating with First Class Honours and multiple Dean’s List awards, and a Master of Philosophy in Machine Learning and Machine Intelligence from Cambridge. Her research has focused on developing scalable generative machine learning methods for molecular simulation and predictive analytics for materials synthesis. Bethany currently works in Australia’s energy sector, applying these techniques to optimise industrial processes, and has received international recognition for her machine learning solutions in process engineering. An advocate for equitable participation in STEM, she is passionate about supporting Australia’s next generation of scientists and engineers. With her Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship, she will undertake a PhD in Engineering at Cambridge, investigating machine learning approaches to accelerate chemical simulation. In the future, Bethany hopes to advance the role of machine learning in engineering, helping to drive scientific discovery and industrial innovation.
